Spotify announced the launch of a handy feature for iOS users Monday: It’s designed for people who play Spotify tracks while they’re going to bed. “Sleep Timer” lets users set a time when they want their music or other soothing sounds to automatically turn off. That means you can put on your favorite bedtime track to fall asleep without worrying that Spotify will keep playing long into the night. To find the feature, navigate to the three dots button in the top right corner of the play screen (that’s the screen that shows the song currently playing). Scroll down, and…

Sleeping is a lot harder than it used to be. There are countless distractions in this world. So many television shows to watch. So much content to meme. So much ongoing pandemic to track. There’s a lot going on in the world right now, too, enough that sleeping can feel pretty much impossible sometimes. The pandemic isn’t going away, there are seemingly unending natural disasters, and depressing news stories relentlessly fill our feeds. Luckily, the technology that surrounds and distracts us also gives us plentiful tools to help ease ourselves into the land of z’s. Here are a few apps…

Isn’t it annoying that you feel sleepy while watching or reading something, but the moment you jump into bed, you’re wide awake, staring at the ceiling and struggling to sleep? Have you ever wondered why? Source link

I never thought listening to vivid descriptions of crime, murder, and World War II would be the solution to my chronic insomnia. But, here we are. Nowadays, falling asleep can feel like an unending nightly battle with our phones and always-on culture. Which is why the rise of podcasts designed to help you fall asleep is so unexpected, turning a big source of our insomnia (cellphones) into the tool we need to doze off. The most famous one, Sleep With Me, blew up over the last few years, topping Apple’s podcast charts week after week. It’s success led to a…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into how we cope with our collective insomnia and the many ways we can achieve a more peaceful slumber. From the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. you can almost certainly count on Twitter to be an overwhelming hellscape. During that specific span of time (and a few hours afterwards) nearly everyone you follow is awake, logged on for the day, and ready to tweet into the void until the sun goes down. But when they log off or fall asleep, Twitter transforms into a completely different platform. After midnight…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into how we cope with our collective insomnia and the many ways we can achieve a more peaceful slumber. In the finale of The Office, there’s a perfect moment. Well, there were many perfect moments in the finale. The Office in its entirety was full of perfect moments — that might be what it did best — but I digress… Anyway, I want to talk about one perfect moment from the finale. The gang is participating in a public panel after the documentary finally aired — if you did not watch…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into how we cope with our collective insomnia and the many ways we can achieve a more peaceful slumber. I’ve always had trouble sleeping. The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t exactly helped things. My phone, meanwhile, has never helped me sleep. In a pandemic, it might as well be pure caffeine. Often, these days, nighttime looks like this: I spend far too much time on Twitter, too much time scrolling through live updates, too many dives down rabbit holes — too many precious hours obsessing in a way that won’t change a damn…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into how we cope with our collective insomnia and the many ways we can achieve a more peaceful slumber. There are two types of sleepers in this world. On one side, there are the people who repeatedly hit snooze in a bid to squeeze out just five more minutes of blissful slumber, who cannot tear themselves out of bed for love or money. On the other side are those who open their eyes the moment their alarm sounds, spring out of bed, and start their day. I fall into the former…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into the many ways to achieve a more peaceful slumber. Recently, I’ve had to adjust to sleeping alone. I’ve slept with the same companion for as long as I can remember, but lately I’ve been thinking that some time apart might be healthy. After years of sleeping no more than two feet away from this companion every night, I took the terrifying initiative to put some physical space between us. It wasn’t easy, but it turned out to be a valuable learning experience. To be clear, I’m not talking about distancing…

Having trouble sleeping? Hit Snooze is Mashable’s deep dive into how we cope with our collective insomnia and the many ways we can achieve a more peaceful slumber. You’re exhausted. All you need is sweet, precious, lovely sleep. But the very thing you need right now just won’t happen. You toss, you turn, you tear your hair out, but you don’t drift off. So, what do you do when you can’t fall asleep? It’s a question I’ve asked myself many a time when slumber has escaped me. Sleeping doesn’t always come easily or as quickly as we’d like it to.…
