Chinese vacuum cleaner maker teases 1000hp electric supercar

A vacuum cleaner maker from China has teased the first image of a new supercar it will reveal in the metal at the January 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States (US).

Dreame Automotive, known for high-performance vacuum cleaners, announced plans last August to build its first vehicle, an electric supercar it says will target the Bugatti Veyron, which was the world’s fastest car when it launched in 2004, capable of more than 400km/h.

The images show the sleek two-seat Dreame supercar’s svelte lines, with a low stance capped by large alloy wheels housing cross-drilled brakes, as well as a large rear wing and chunky rear diffuser.

The company revealed its first renderings of the as-yet-unnamed supercar in September 2025, showing a strikingly similar shape to the iconic Bugatti Chiron, which replaced the Veyron in 2016.

It remains unknown whether Dreame will launch locally, with rival makers including GWM and BYD (through its Yangwang sub-brand, not sold here) both producing supercars yet to reach the Australian market.

While the BYD Yangwang U9 uses four electric motors, GWM is developing a V8-hybrid powertrain similar to that used in the recently revealed Toyota GR GT supercar as it guns for the Ferrari SF90.

Dreame has not announced powertrain details for its supercar, but CarNewsChina reports it will be a battery-electric setup that the company says will produce more than 1000hp (746kW), with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 1.8 seconds.

That compares to the quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 Veyron, which produced up to 882kW and delivered 0-100km/h in 2.4 seconds in its most potent Grand Sport guise.
