Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the electric car maker will offer its Full Self-Driving (FSD) function on a subscription-only basis in the US, removing the option for buyers to pay a one-off fee. However, other countries, including Australia, New Zealand and the UK, have yet to confirm they will follow suit for Model Y and Model 3 customers in their respective markets. Mr Musk posted the news on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, explaining the FSD feature will be sold by monthly subscription only after February 14, 2026. The system was first rolled out in the…

The Tesla Cybertruck posted one of the biggest sales slumps of any electric vehicles (EVs) in the US in 2025, with the numbers looking worse towards the end of the year. In just its second full year on sale, the Cybertruck recorded a 48.1 per cent sales drop according to Cox Automotive data. That was among the largest year-on-year declines of any EV in the US market last year. Set aside discontinued vehicles or those on hiatus and only the Kia Niro EV (down 52.7 per cent), Ford E-Transit (down 58.9 per cent) and Tesla’s own Model S (down 52.6…

By the time police arrived on the scene, the alleged offenders had fled. However, the Queensland Police Service launched Operation Yankee…

Volkswagen’s popular Tiguan mid-size SUV has gone all fancy for its third generation. Following the clean, if uninspiring, design of its second-generation predecessor, the latest model aims to go back to a time where Volkswagens were lauded as ‘premium cars for the people’ – and on first impression, it does this in a few ways. The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan 150TSI Elegance you see on test here is perhaps the best example of this. With restrained, ‘elegant’ design touches, a plush cabin, and more tech than you can think of, the penultimate grade in the Australian lineup offers the sort of…

Over the weekend, Canada and China struck a trade deal which could see Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) into the country. Under the deal, Canada will reduce the 100 per cent tariff on made-in-China EVs to 6.1 per cent for the first 49,000 units per year, a number which will rise to 70,000 cars per year by the fifth year of the deal. In return, China will slash the tariff it imposes on Canadian canola seed from 85 per cent to 15 per cent in March. Although Chinese EVs now face fewer financial barriers in the Canadian market, it might take…
